Online How to
Seriously…bookmark this page – it’ll save you time (I promise!)
Please note we contract with our online curriculum providers and they are designed for many schools. It’s important to READ this section to make sure you know how to use MSE specific directions.
- Make sure you are prepared by going over all of the instructions and any related study guides and check-ups. The quizzes are closed-book.
- Open the quiz. You can not go back to previous questions, so make sure you do your best on the first attempt. Every course except AP courses and World Languages allow for 3 attempts to get to 70% or better. If you achieve 70% or better on the first or second attempt you don’t get any more attempts.
- Quizzes are automatically scored. You will see your score right away.
- If you don’t pass after the third attempt email info@marketsquare.education to get your course unlocked.

- Print and complete (hand write) the assignment (this includes teacher scored tests). Be sure to show your work.
- Make sure your writing is legible. If you use pencil, make sure it is dark enough to easily read. If your teacher can’t read it, they can’t give you the score you deserve.
All Other Apex Courses
- Open the Apex assignment and “Select All” from your menubar.
- Copy and paste the entire assignment (this includes teacher scored tests) into an Microsoft Word* document or other word processing program (text edit, Google Doc**, etc).
- Now you can type your answers in the document. All of these assignments must be typed. Handwritten work is not accepted.
*Teachers prefer Microsoft Word if you have it.
**If using Google Docs, make sure you save your document as a word doc or PDF to your computer prior to submitting it. You can not submit an assignment via a google doc link.

Math, Science & World Languages
- After your assignment is complete follow these directions to scan it into a .pdf document.
Scan: Scan your work. Save all pages (in the assignment) to the same document. Check your scanner user manual for scanning multiple pages at once. Two great scan apps for your smartphone are available to scan your homework and send the file to yourself: Scannable (iPhone) or CamScanner (android) app.
Tips for getting a good scan when using an app:
- Before you start scanning – line up all of the pages in order on a flat surface.
- Hold your phone parallel to your paper.
- Scan the pages.
- Send it to yourself.
- Open it – make sure you can read it. If you can’t read it – your teacher can’t read it.

Discussions are simple! Just go to the last page and type your discussion post right there! Here’s a How To!
Don’t forget to read how discussions are scored – many require more than one post to earn full credit. Keep in mind you can post more than once per discussion.
PS: Your teacher doesn’t get a notification of discussion posts. If your discussion was posted over a week ago please send your teacher an email asking them nicely to look.

Type your discussion right into the discussion post. You will see it there.
From your Genius dashboard, click on your teacher’s name in blue. From there you can send an email that goes to your teacher.
If your question is in reference to a specific assignment make sure to include the assignment number.
The cool thing about Apex lab science classes is that they offer both wet and dry lab materials. What is the difference? The wet lab provides you with a list of materials you can go out and purchase so you can do the experiment at home. The dry lab provides you all of the data you would gain from doing the lab yourself or from watching someone else do it. Market Square Education accepts the dry lab. Students are welcome to do the wet lab at their own expense.
If you run into something in Apex that says “you don’t have access to this until…” please send an email to info@marketsquare.education with the date you hope to complete. This will not impact your course completion date. It will simply redo your calendar to give you access to assignments quicker.
Once you have correctly submitted all of your teacher-scored work, allow a week for everything to be graded.
IMPORTANT: Avoid “Assignment Dumping.” Do not submit many teacher-scored assignments at the same time. They may take at least TWO WEEKS to be graded. Teachers give a lower priority to these assignments over those turned in on time.
After everything is graded and recorded, you and your parents will receive an email with instructions for getting your transcript sent to your school.
All World Language courses require completion of spoken assignments. Spoken assignments can be easily recorded and sent to your teacher. It’s easiest to record audio using your cell phone’s recording feature. Once you have it complete – email it directly to your teacher.
Make sure to clearly label your email to your teacher with the corresponding assignment number.
