One of the definitions of asynchronous is:

  • (of two or more objects or events) not existing or happening at the same time.

Market Square Education offers courses asynchronously, which means that there is not a live, scheduled class time that a student has to be online with a teacher. A student can work at their own pace through the course, and work whenever it is most convenient for their schedule. It also means that MSE courses have open enrollment. Your student can start any time during the year! No need to wait for a designated start date.

Asynchronous courses are perfect for students that need flexibility due to being in sports, other time-consuming activities, take summer vacations, or have jobs. They’re also great for students that don’t like to wake up early and do their best work late in the afternoon!

Asynchronous does NOT mean there is no teacher at all. MSE’s teachers monitor the students’ coursework and progress, grade their assignments, and are available for questions and feedback by email.

Because our courses are asynchronous, they’re a popular choice for summer schooling. We have many students that take two semesters of a course over the summer months – and still get to enjoy other summer activities.
