Social Studies 7: Medieval & Early Modern History A/B
In the first semester of this course, students will use their historical investigation skills to examine medieval civilizations across the world. They will learn how social, cultural, and technological developments led to changes in the ways that people lived and interacted with others. Units of study will include Islamic civilizations, Chinese civilizations, sub-Saharan African civilizations, Medieval Japan, and Medieval Europe. In the second semester of this course, students will first focus on the cultural and political changes brought about by the Renaissance and Reformation. Further studies will uncover how the Age of Exploration, the Scientific Revolution, and the Age of Reason and Enlightenment set a course for the modern world. At the end of the course, students will examine direct connections between the Medieval world and the modern world.
